Two Additional Character Witnesses Testify

Two additional character witnesses were called this morning, including a former Second Mile participant who had only positive interactions with Sandusky.

The witness said that sometimes he would stay over at the Sandusky’s home and sleep in the basement. “He would show me the basement, go downstairs, show me the bathroom,” but said that nothing inappropriate ever happened.

“I just wanted to thank him for everything he’s done for me. This guy has done so much for me and so many other people. That’s why I’m here today,” he said.

Another former Second Mile participant estimates he spent the night at Sandusky’s house “over fifty times.” He says nothing inappropriate every happened.

He said that he was subpoenaed and interviewed by the police about his relationship with Sandusky. “After they asked me the same question three times, they wanted me to say something that wasn’t true. They wanted a particular answer,” he said, implying that investigators were trying to push for him to say something incriminating against Sandusky.

“They kept asking me and wanted me to say something that wasn’t true,” he said.

Court is now in a short recess.

Penn State’s first president Evan Pugh was born in 1828 at Jordan Bank Farm, three miles south of the city center of Oxford, Pennsylvania, an hour west of Philadelphia in Chester County. One-hundred eighty-nine years later, an Oxford brewery is honoring one of the preeminent champions of “liberal and practical” higher education in the form of a delicious Porter.
