State College Police Investigating Paige Raque

There was a vigil. There was a wristband. There was hope.

Now, there is a warrant.

The State College Police Department is investigating whether alcohol was a factor when Paige Raque fell five stories from Calder Commons , according to WJAC. Paige Raque, a Penn State cheerleader, received life-threatening injuries while at a party on October 13.

The Police submitted a warrant to Mount Nittany Medical Center for Raque’s medical records. Partygoers have told authorities that alcohol was furnished to minors at the party. Raque, 19, fell through a window screen, and her fall resulted in a broken pelvis and brain trauma. The State College Police Department said the fall was accidental.

The Raque tragedy has been a rallying point for the Penn State community and beyond. Days after her accident, the #PrayForPaige hashtag spread across Penn State’s twitterverse. The Cheerleading team and Athletics Department held a prayer vigil for Raque in Rec Hall later in the week. By the end of October, one could purchase a bracelet in the HUB to support the Paige Raque Recovery Fund. This last point was the fiftieth reason in Onward State’s”100 Reasons Why We Still Are.” Collegiate cheerleaders across America rallied behind Paige Raque as well.

Is this just piling on by the police, or should they investigate minors law drinking crimes like this at all costs? Let us know in the comments.
