Penn State football legend Trace McSorley will work out at the Philadelphia Eagles’ pro day next week, according to NFL insider Adam Caplan.

This isn’t the first sign of interest in McSorley the Eagles have shown this offseason. He reportedly met with Philadelphia at the NFL Scouting Combine, and the Eagles have publicly stated their intention to add a signal caller via the NFL Draft.

“I would expect us, if not every year, every other year, to try to find a quarterback,” Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said. “That quarterback we bring in, let’s say this year’s draft or next year’s draft, needs to be a great fit in that room. You’re not just drafting a player that can be a backup, but someone that can help the culture with the quarterback that’s starting.”

It appears Philadelphia wants to add intangibles to its group of quarterbacks, and it’s safe to say McSorley has those in spades. His pure toughness and impact in the community are just two of many examples of the type of person the Eagles could potentially add to their quarterback room at the NFL Draft later this month.

Philadelphia currently has Carson Wentz, one of the league’s premier young signal callers, backup Nate Sudfeld, and Luis Perez — an ex-AAF player who found an NFL home after the league ceased operations — at quarterback. Penn State’s “just outside Philly” crowd might lose its collective mind if Trace McSorley joins the Eagles, but it doesn’t seem all that far-fetched at this point.

Outside of the Eagles, the New York Giants, Baltimore Ravens, and Buffalo Bills are just a few of the teams to express interest in Penn State’s winningest quarterback. The 2019 NFL Draft is slated to begin at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 25 in Nashville before the final six rounds play out on April 26 and 27.
