Trio Of Town Hall Meetings To Provide Athletic Strategic Planning Update

Students and community members will have three opportunities to learn about and discuss initial findings of the Intercollegiate Athletics’ strategic planning process during a trio of town hall style meetings in the coming weeks.

Athletic Director Sandy Barbour and members of the ICA’s Leadership Team will be on hand to speak with interested Penn Staters. Initial findings of the expansive strategic planning project will be discussed, and attendees will be able to ask questions. The goal of these projects are to determine the best strategies and priorities for the period of 2016-20 and beyond for all 31 sports teams at Penn State.

Though broad, this initiative began in June when the university partnered with the NAPA Group to strategically plan the future of athletics at Penn State.

“This is an important time as the University and Intercollegiate Athletics envision our future,” Barbour said in June. “The strategic planning process for the athletic department is a wonderful opportunity to galvanize our program and critical constituencies around a compelling and clear vision of success and a set of strategic goals for the next five years. We have designed an inclusive project with engagement activities that will encourage our many stakeholders to provide input and feedback on the strategic plan. At the end of the process, we will have developed a breathing, working, implementable plan that drives our future.”

A Penn State athletics release notes that more than 1,000 individuals have provided feedback in the ongoing process. Here are the dates for the town hall meetings, courtesy of the release:
